Skin resurfacing

Reducing wrinkles, improving texture and brightening the skin tone are a dream for many women – as well as many men. Today, the resurfacing methodology makes this possible, without surgery and in a completely natural way that gives the epidermis a new splendor.

Rejuvenation with resurfacing

It is one of the most valid and safe aesthetic medical procedures for skin rejuvenation, even more so because it can be used in a preventative way too: whereas once there was a tendency to act on the imperfection when it manifests itself, modern laser technologies, in particular CO2 and Fraxel, allow you to work in this direction earlier, avoiding its appearance in the first place.
The results will be visible in any event: after a resurfacing, the skin appears smoother, more compact, uniform in color and improved in imperfections, even acne scars.

How rejuvenation with resurfacing works

Resurfacing stimulates cell turnover and favors the action of fibroblasts to regenerate collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, essential substances for the health and beauty of the epidermis, the production of which, unfortunately, slows down after 25 years of age.

Precisely for this regenerative value, Image Regenerative Clinic attributes great importance to resurfacing, which is always modulated according to the patient’s goals. The procedure, in fact, is never standard, but must always be adapted and studied from case to case.

Resurfacing treatment

During a resurfacing, the doctor, thanks to the laser light, exfoliates the layers of the epidermis up to the superficial dermis. This controlled “damage” allows for complete renewal of the skin, attenuating, often to the point of complete disappearance, superficial wrinkles and scars, including acne scars. It is also used in hand and décolleté rejuvenation.
Different lasers are used for resurfacing: CO2 (1060 nm) and erbium or Er-YAG laser (2640 nm) and Fraxel, all technologies that Image Regenerative Clinic makes available to its patients.

In summary

For whom it is appropriate

Resurfacing is indicated for all those who want transparent, uniform, radiant and imperfection-free skin (with no spots, dyschromia, dilated pores and scars, even from acne).

Age

Resurfacing is always suitable from adolescence onwards. It has a preventive function against aging (healing on scars) on younger skins; on mature skins it is therapeutic.

Method

Laser.

Duration

A session lasts about 45 minutes (40, in general, are for the action of the anesthetic cream).

Number of sessions and frequency

The effectiveness of this procedures is already visible after just one treatment, but we recommend 3 shock sessions 40 days apart, or, as a preventive measure, 1-3 sessions a year (roughly one per season).

Social return

It varies depending on the laser, but, usually, the redness following a resurfacing ranges from 12 hours to a week.
